Keeping and Getting contacts after film school

Phone calls are great, emails as well, but when it comes to getting someone to remember you, nothing is better than social networking. The best way for people to remember you isn’t by getting a phone call or an email once every months, it’s by getting news from you daily or weekly. Even if they aren’t aware of it, they still are remembering you and when times comes to put a face on an open position there are way more chances for you, the person that keeps in touch regularly, than the guy who calls once every months asking how you’re doing.

I’m personally using both Facebook and Twitter. I use Facebook a lot more for personal stuff, but I still have a large amount of coworkers in my friend list. Twitter is a lot more professional, for me at least. I’m following and followed by professionals who are also using this as a way to keep in touch, with less informations than Facebook.

Now however you want to set up your counts is up to you, but I personally recommend that you try using those, even if it’s once every week, and find people you know and worked with before or that you want to work with later.

But be aware, whatever you put on that website, people will be able to see. If you want to only use it for work, don’t put pictures of you drunk in a strip club. But you can use it for both, so just watch out what you put on there and you should be perfectly fine.
