How I ended up in Film School

One year ago, I was a young man living in Eastern Canada, wanting to make film, but without any experience, deep knowledge or even any opportunities. I still wanted to make movies, but without any of this I didn’t know how I would ever be able to do so. After looking around and looking at what many other filmmakers did, I decided to look for a film school to teach me what I needed.

Don’t assume you know everything

One of the thing that most of the people, when they graduate from a film school, assume is that they know everything about everything. Well, it’s not the case. As soon as your out the door, you’re in a total different world where people do things really differently than they did in film school.

Film Schools directory

Here’s a link that may help quite a lot of people to figure out the film schools locations. Film School.com has a list of quite a large numbers of film schools around the world and also contains articles and interviews about the subject. The thing that surprised me was to find a film glossary term list on the site. If you visit the glossary it will tell you quite a lot or works that you should know when you’re on set, so if you don’t already know them it …

What you learn once you’re in

It’s difficult to resume what you learn in a year into a couple of paragraph. What film school did is giving me the knowledge of everything. I didn’t chose a program in which I was only specializing in one domain, I took one that gave me knowledge of everything so that I could later on make the choice.
